50 Cent's Oscar Bid

The list of the great actors of our time includes names like Brando, De Niro, Pachino, Depp, and DiCaprio. Now we can add Cent to that illustrious group. Remember a few months back when pictures like this one first surfaced showing an emaciated Curtis Jackson (50-Cent)?

We were told he lost the weight to play a cancer stricken football player. Wow, what devotion to a role! This movie must be a cinematic masterpiece, for this guy to go to such great lengths! Man, 50 was on his serious Robert De Niro, ultra-method, preparation game. I mean, surely he wouldn't have put himself such torture for anything less than an Oscar caliber role, right? 50 actually co-wrote the screenplay and invested a ton of his fortune into the films production. Well, today the trailer for "Thing's Fall Apart" was released; and umm....

From stealing the title of a classic work of literature, to hiring the B-movie announcer guy, to the fact that 50's 35yrs. old playing a college kid, to that ridiculous dreadlock wig that looks like it's from a cheap Halloween costume, to the announcer guy stating that this is "the most critically acclaimed role of his career" without any quotes from critics, to the fact that there's no release date, everything about this film screams Oscar to me.
How come these guys don't know when enough's enough? Just take your money and go somewhere and enjoy it. What a lame.
