Everybody's pontificating about Ricky Gervais' monologue on the recent Golden Globe Awards. Various news sources are calling it "offensive", "uncomfortable", "over the top" and Hollywood's all riled up over his "vicious attacks". I wasn't a fan of Gervais (I am now) but I was intrigued so I watched the video with eager anticipation and I too was appalled. Umm, are you kidding me!? This is what all the outrage is about? What is happening to America? When did we become so soft? The monologue was actually really funny. I'm outraged that anyone would consider those jokes outrageous! Making fun of living hallucinations like Charlie Sheen, Hugh Hefner, Tom Cruise/Scientology is now considered "extremely politically incorrect" and by Fox News I might add (the same people that bring you the wholesome Family Guy). Do these people really expect to be taken seriously? They play make believe for a living! America get over yourself please!? The stench of your constant hypocrisy is overbearing. The entire infrastructure of the country is on the verge of collapse and a comedian actually being funny is an outrage? Why have we allowed ourselves to become so distracted by utter triviality?
*Did you hear the shock and awe when he told the Scientology joke? Classic.
